Bio
Shahram Chubin
Dr. Shahram Chubin is Director of Studies at the GCSP, Switzerland. He has been a Director of Regional Security Studies at the IISS and has taught at various universities including the Graduate School of International Studies in Geneva and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. A specialist notably in the security problems of the Middle East region, he has been a consultant inter alia to the US Department of Defense, the Hudson Institute and the United Nations. He has been a resident fellow at the Wilson Center, the Carnegie Endowment and the Hudson Institute.
Larry J. Diamond
Larry Diamond is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor by courtesy of political science and sociology at Stanford University. Diamond is a professor at the Center on Democracy on Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University. He is also co-editor of the Journal of Democracy and co-director of the International Forum for Democratic Studies of the National Endowment for Democracy.
He has written and edited numerous articles and books on democracy in developing countries and the problems of development and corruption, particularly in Africa and Asia. Dr. Diamond has also served as a consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development and co-authored its recent report, Foreign Aid in the National Interest.
Abbas Milani
Abbas Milani is a research fellow and co-director of the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution. In addition, Dr. Milani is Director of the Iranian Studies Program at Stanford University and a visiting professor in the department of political science.
His expertise is U.S.-Iran relations, Iranian cultural, political, and security issues. Milani was a professor of history and political science and chair of the department at Notre Dame de Namur University and a research fellow at the Institute of International Studies at the University of California at Berkeley.
Milani was an assistant professor in the faculty of law and political science at Tehran University and a member of the board of directors of Tehran University's Center for International Studies from 1979 to 1987.
He was a research fellow at the Iranian Center for Social Research from 1977 to 1978 and an assistant professor at the National University of Iran from 1975 to 1977.
