The question about whether the soul resides solely in the brain is debatable. One could easily argue that the body represents a tangible part of the soul, which can be diminished or augmented. You can define the soul as the indivisible core of your consciousness, but that's just one definition. Popular culture is full of references to the soul residing in the eyes or the voice or other outward manifestations. You could even define a soul as being the sum of other peoples perceptions, and use only the word consciousness for the internal self.
