Eleanor Heartney - Eleanor Heartney is an independent cultural critic and author residing in New York City. Currently, she is contributing editor for Art in America and Artpress and co-president of AICAUSA, the American Section of the International Art Critics Association. She has written for most major cultural publications including Art News, New Art Examiner, the Washington Post, Sculpture, and the New York Times.
She was the 1992 recipient of the College Art Association's Frank Jewett Mather Award for distinction in art criticism and has also received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts (1993) and the Asian Cultural Council (1995).
Heartney's books include a collection of Heartney's essays published in 1997 by Cambridge University Press under the title Critical Condition: American Culture at the Crossroads; Postmodernism published in 2001 by the Tate Gallery Publishers; Postmodern Heretics: The Catholic Imagination in Contemporary Art published in 2004 by Midmarch Arts Press and Defending Complexity: Art Politics and the New World Order, published in 2005 by Hard Press Editions.
Heartney has lectured extensively at universities and instutions in America and abroad. These include: Dartmouth College, Skidmore College, Middlebury College, Massachusetts College of Art, Taipei Cultural Center, Korean University, the Public Art Fund in New York City, the Whitney Museum, the Institute for Contemporary Art in Philadelphia and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
She has served as adjunct professor at RISD, Bard College, Tyler School of Art and at Parsons School of Design. She has also served as visiting critic at numerous insitutions including School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Smith College, Cornell University, Painted Bride, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Helaine Posner - Helaine Posner is an Adjunct Curator for the American Federation of Arts and is the author of the The Masculine Masquerade: Masculinity and Representation and Kiki Smith.
Nancy Princenthal - Nancy Princenthal is an art critic who has contributed to Art in America magazine since 1985. She has written on numerous artists including Vito Acconci, Janine Antoni, Vija Clemins, David Hammonds, Roni Horn, and Matthew Ritchie. She is also a contributing editor to Art on Paper and the editorial adviser and a regular contributor to Art/Text. Her articles have appeared in Artforum, Parkett, The New York Times, The Village Voice, Artnews, and Vogue. Princenthal has contributed to countless books and catalogues, and she has a regular column in the Print Collector’s Newletter on artists’ books. She has taught at Bard College, Princeton University, Yale University, Rhode Island School of Design, and Parsons School of Design.
