"This does not include the CO2 produced in the construction of the power plant itself..."

LOL. You are joking, aren't you? I mean, you cannot be serious with this statement. First of all, NOTHING is greenhouse gas free. Even cows fart. But your comments about the "dirty little secrets" in the nuclear industry are a joke. In terms of carbon emissions, taking into account the needs of the modern era and the total impact on carbon emissions in the world, nuclear is the BEST OPTION BY FAR.

It is not valid to say that nuclear power is greenhouse gas free. Nuclear energy needs pure uranium for its fuel rods. The uranium fuel cycle is the dirty little secret of the nuclear industry. It take sixteen carbon intensive steps between mining uranium ore and the finished fuel rods needed for the fission process.

This does not include the CO2 produced in the construction of the power plant itself and final disposition of spent fuel. No, nuclear is not clean, far from it.

I realize Bowman is basically shilling for the nuclear industry here, but I found this talk engaging nonetheless. I found his perspectives on managment of nuclear waste particularly interesting, as that's always been my primary reservation about nuclear power.
