Bio
Nicholas Blake
Nicholas practises in the general field of public law, particularly in the fields of personal liberty, discrimination and human, economic and social rights. He has a special prominence in the field of immigration, asylum and European free movement law, where he has appeared in many of the leading cases of the past ten years.
He also practices in the related fields of criminal, civil and international law. His criminal experience includes acting in a number of the celebrated miscarriage of justice cases, criminal trials, appellate and judicial review work in this area, including death penalty cases. He has conducted constitutional and criminal cases in the Caribbean, Fiji, Hong Kong SAR and before the Privy Council. He has substantial experience before international tribunals, including the European Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Justice, the Inter American Commission of Human Rights (Washington DC) and the Inter American Court of Human Rights (Costa Rica).

Tom Davies is a Student and a member of the Elfed High School Debate Team.
Tony Gilland
Tony Gilland is the Science and Society Director at the Institute of Ideas. Tony directs the IoI's programme on scientific and medical controversies, particularly in relation to genetics, medical science and public health. He has programmed many symposiums, and edited several books on the subject.
Most recently, Tony initiated the Science Education Project, investigating the state of science education in the UK. The project has thus far resulted in a book edited by Tony, What is science education for?, which generated widespread coverage. Tony was recently quoted in The Guardian in response to the evaluations of the new science GCSE.
Tony has also written widely on the problem of risk aversion and defensiveness about scientific experimentation, contributing an article, 'Trade War or Culture War? The GM Debate in Britain and the European Union' to the book Let Them Eat Precaution.
Tony is National Coordinator of the IoI's acclaimed Debating Matters competition for sixth-form students, now in its third year.
David Jones
David Jones is a Student and a member of the Harvey Grammar School Debate Team.
Nicolette Jones
Nicolette Jones is a writer and freelance journalist who has worked for national newspapers and the book trade press. She is the children's books reviewer for The Sunday Times, and collaborated with Raymond Briggs on an overview of his work, Blooming Books, published by Jonathan Cape in 2003.
She chaired the committee that chose the 2005-7 Children's Laureate, was a judge of the Orange Prize in 2003, and is a trustee of The Reading Agency. She is also on the board of the National Maritime Museum's Library Appeal, and a judge of the 2007 Branford Boase Award and the Macmillan Prize. She was educated at St. Hilda's College, Oxford, and Yale University, where she was a Henry Fellow in the Graduate School of English.
Her book about the Victorian philanthropist Samuel Plimsoll and his campaign on behalf of sailors, The Plimsoll Sensation, was published on 22nd June 2006, and won the 2006 Mountbatten Maritime Prize.
Jack Klaff
Jack Klaff (born in Johannesburg, South Africa)is an actor, writer, director and academic.
Klaff has held four visiting professorships at Princeton University and was for four years Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Starlab in Brussels.
