Bio
John Perkins
John Perkins spent three decades as an Economic Hit Man, business executive, author, and lecturer. He lived and worked in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America. Then he made a decision: he would use these experiences to make the planet a better place for his daughter's generation.
Today he teaches about the importance of rising to higher levels of consciousness, to waking up - in both spiritual and physical realms - and is a champion for environmental and social causes. He has lectured at universities on four continents, including Harvard, Wharton, and Princeton.
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man author John Perkins argues that the United States has created a modern-day empire through the use of economic blackmail and the undermining of foreign governments.
Your cynicism perpetuates the problems of this planet . Perkins will succeed at anything he does ...nature of this beast ...but at least his message is inviting benign interaction ...versus exploitation of the less fortunate.... between this worlds populations today
Cynical conference from a man who seems to discover (a bit late) that kids exist on this planet, that DDT is a very long lasting poison and want us to swallow the idea that CEOs, bankers and most leaders are those happy/friendly/good hearted men who want the best for all of us.
They probably waited for him to teach them to be good boys.
Either this man is a naive dummy or he carries on his dark duty to another level, the choice is yours.
There are more than just accidents of history or culture behind the world's dilemmas well illustrated by its enormous imbalances in wealth, power and influence.
It's a function of a very real issue arising from our biological evolution as social beings:
These are subjects central to my work. In fact, I believe my ideas regarding the role in these problems played by the "limits" of biological altruism and its relationship to our concepts of group identity, proximity (in more ways than just geography) and "natural human community size" are gaining credibility.
While it may seem counter-intuitive, these limits, as imprecise and individually variable as they may be, actually have encouraged much injustice and facilitated social extremes. As well as providing the very foundations for Authoritarianism's rise and persistence.
This theoretical foundation is quite important since it can lead to fruitful avenues in the search for solutions to these problems. As well as add impetus to the arguments in favor of such solutions.
ICT (Information & Communication Technology) is a wonderful tool which is key to finding our way forward. But it also makes moving rapidly to those solutions more critical in a very vulnerable time in human history.
I hope you'll take a look at my brief piece on this How would hunter-gatherers run the world? (pssst... They Do!) and the related posts.
I have much more to lay out but this should be enough to prod some thought... (or questions and challenges if and where appropriate).
