The Secure America Project seeks to engage the public and policy experts in dialogue through a national educational campaign on the international issues faced by the United States today.
Bio
Morton H. Halperin
Morton H. Halperin is the director of U.S. Advocacy at the Open Society Institute and the executive director of the Open Society Policy Center. He is also a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress.
Dr. Halperin's career has included service in the federal government under the Clinton, Nixon, and Johnson administrations. He has worked as a part of the American Civil Liberties Union, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and numerous other think tanks and universities, and was senior vice president of the Century Foundation/Twentieth Century Fund.
William L. Nash
Major General William L. Nash, USA Ret., is Director of the Council on Foreign Relation's Center for Preventive Action. He has served as the Director of Civil-Military Programs at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and was appointed as the Regional Administrator for the United Nations in northern Kosovo.
Prior to service in Kosovo, Major General Nash was the commander of a multinational division charged to uphold and enforce the military provisions of the Dayton Peace Accords in northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1995.
Amb. Edward L. Peck
Ambassador Edward L. Peck has served as Executive Secretary of the American Academy of Diplomacy, and as Chairman of Political Tradecraft Programs at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center.
Ambassador Peck was Deputy Director of the Cabinet Task Force on Terrorism under the Reagan Administration, and served at the State Department as Deputy Coordinator for global covert intelligence programs, Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs, and Director of Egyptian Affairs. He has served as Chief of Mission in Iraq and Mauritania, and as an embassy officer in Sweden, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.
