Amy Kazmin
Amy Kazmin, is a reporter for the Financial Times and Member of the Board of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand.
Amy Kazmin has a BA in history from UC Berkeley and an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics. Since 2000 she has been the Bangkok-based South East Asia correspondent for the Financial Times. She previously spent five years in New Delhi, writing for both the FT and Business Week.
Wenchi Yu Perkins
Wenchi Yu Perkins is Vital Voices Global Partnership's New York Office Representative and Human Rights Program Director. She represents Vital Voices to liaise with the United Nations and is responsible for expanding Vital Voices' network and building private-public partnerships in the Greater New York area. In addition, Ms. Perkins manages and develops Vital Voices' all human rights programs, including the hallmark anti-trafficking program. She has testified before the US Congress and has been quoted widely in the New York Times, Washington Post, International Herald Tribune, and other major international media outlets on women's rights issues. Prior to joining Vital Voices, Ms. Perkins worked with an immigrant rights organization and trained law enforcement in the Midwest. Ms. Perkins has also been involved in labor rights and corporate social responsibility work in East Asia through research and policy advocacy. She was a foreign policy assistant at the Taiwanese Parliament and worked for Taiwan’s Consulate in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Perkins has published articles in the Asian Wall Street Journal and the United Nations Chronicle. She has an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a BA in Political Science from National Taiwan University.
Iskandar Shalaby
Alex Shalaby was elected as President and CEO of ECMS effective November 1st, 2005. With an extensive experience of over 35 years in the telecommunication field, Shalaby joined Mobinil since its inception in 1998 as Board Member and Chief Regulatory and Legal Affairs Officer. In his position, he was involved in all operational aspects of the company.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Regulatory and Legal Affairs Officer for ECMS, Alex Shalaby was the Director for Government Affairs for AT&T in Washington, DC. Shalaby led several successful operations for AT&T through several managerial positions. Between 1980 to 1993; he was the Managing Director for AT&T in Egypt and General Manager for the MENA Region.
During this period, Shalaby established and secured a solid foothold for AT&T in Egypt and a number of markets in North Africa and the Gulf Region. Between 1993 & 1995, Shalaby was the Regional Director for International Public Affairs for AT&T based in Cairo, where he was responsible for the interface with key agencies within the governments in the region on matters impacting AT&T operations. This was a critical period preceding the wave of privatization within the telecommunications sector.
Shalaby established the first presence for AT&T in a number of countries and the Middle East and Africa Region, and in 1995 was appointed as the Regional Director of Government Affairs for the company in the Middle East. He also served on a number of boards including AmCham Egypt (where he also served as president between 1991 and 1993), the bi-National Fulbright Commission and the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC.
Alex holds a B. SC. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University and a Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from San José State University, California.
Melanne Verveer
Melanne Verveer is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Vital Voices Global Partnership, an international nonprofit that supports emerging women leaders in building vibrant democracies and strong economies. Vital Voices focuses on expanding women’s participation in politics and civil society; increasing women’s entrepreneurship and fighting human rights abuses, particularly the trafficking of women and children. Vital Voices provides international leadership training through a collaborative with Georgetown University that enables women leaders from around the globe to more effectively contribute to advancing progress in their societies. The Vital Voices Global Leadership Network connects thousands of women leaders who have participated in Vital Voices conferences or the Global Leadership Institute training programs.
