Was just listening to coverage of the war in Gaza by Geraldo on Fox, followed up by some Christian propaganda piece called "Escape From Hamas" (son of Hamas bigwig finds Jesus, flees to America, and joins the chorus of ex-Muslims who declare the "sickness" of Islam, etc.). They seemed so pleased with themselves, calling the reporters covering the carnage 'heroes'. Then I hear Robert Fisk talk about the Arab 'foot soldiers' who do the legwork for the correspondents who parachute in for the photo op and can fly back to Europe or America in first-class safety, while their photographers and guides get shot up or blown up or kidnapped and tortured to death. A real hero is someone who is willing to look a horror in the face and tell it like it is- without apologies or justifications, and damned be whoever gets their feathers ruffled. I think it was important to say that peace in the Middle East depends on security for ALL the people of the Middle East- that everything there does not revolve around Israel (which is exactly what the real antisemites want everyone else to believe).
