HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned
Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned is the Consort of His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
A public figure with important responsibilities, Sheikha Mozah shares her husband's vision to make Qatar a prosperous, developed and sustainable society. She works to establish centers of excellence and enable opportunities for the people of Qatar, particularly within the areas of family, education, science, community, health and cultural heritage.
Her Highness's work has been recognized internationally by three honorary doctorates from Virginia Commonwealth University, Texas A&M University and Carnegie Mellon University, as well as by appointment from UNESCO as Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education. In 2005 she was selected as a member of the United Nations High Level Group of the Alliance of Civilizations, set up by the Secretary General of the UN to develop creative mechanisms for fighting terrorism.
In all aspects of her work, Sheikha Mozah is guided by respect for traditional values, commitment to the highest possible standards, and dedication to the vision for the future.
I find this speech very much articulate, and with many intelligent ideas, even if sometimes it lacks fluency or sounds a bit “wooden”. I don’t agree with everything she says, especially in her characterization of Samuel Huntington’s ‘Clash of civilizations’ idea. But I think there is much enlightment in her words in general, and much of what she says can be quoted as a source that shows important changes in Mideast leadership mentality in the last twenty years.
