Bush only further embarrasses himself in the speech before the NAACP. After 6 years of neglecting, and after dismissing the African-American demographic, he attempts to gain confidence at a time when his poll ratings are at an all time low. He delivers a great speech, kudos to the speech writer.
Its extremely phenomenal that after such a great duration of the President neglecting and chastising the NAACP, he delivers a speech that highlights his emotional bond with the leaders and members of the organization.
The irony about Bush's tension with the NAACP is that there are scores of black religous people who would support him had he not shunned them for so long.
