I found Danelo’s book especially interesting because it draws so much on his experiences as a former navy captain in Iraq. His book is very valuable in bringing the stress and sleep deprivation that US troops have to endure to the public’s attention. In particular, I thought his description of a military officer who must lead an operation without having slept in 36 hours or eaten in 18 hours really highlights how difficult it can be to make decisions under such circumstances.
