Pulitzer-prize winner Ted Morgan discusses his memoir, My Battle of Algiers, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
Mr. Morgan, who fought on the side of the French during the French-Algerian War in the late 1950s, spends much of his talk explaining why, in the preface to his book, he refers to the war in Iraq as "unwinnable." He compares what the Iraqis are going through today with what the Algerians went through when fighting the French. Mr. Morgan also addresses the use of torture and its effectiveness in both Algeria and Iraq. Includes Q&A.

Ted Morgan
Ted Morgan is a French-American writer, biographer, journalist, and historian. He has written numerous books including "My Battle for Algiers", as well as for newspapers and magazines. In 1982 he was named a National Book Award Finalist for his biography "Maugham", and he won the Pulitzer Prize for journalism in 1961.
