Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance
From the United Nations Correspondents Association in New York City, Noam Chomsky discusses the "Bush doctrine" and its implications. In particular, Professor Chomsky addresses the Bush administration's space policy and its overall efforts to expand U.S. influence and power. He also talks about the case of British whistleblower Katherine Gun, who leaked a memo stating that the NSA had been spying on UN Security Council members, and discusses the charges against the Cuban 5, who were convicted in the U.S. of espionage in 2001. On September 20, 2006, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, speaking in front of the U.N. General Assembly, praised Professor Chomsky's book, Hegemony or Survival, and recommended that Americans read it.
Noam Chomsky, a professor of linguistics and philosophy at MIT, is the author of numerous books on U.S. foreign policy, including American Power and the New Mandarins, Political Economy of Human Rights (two volumes, written with Edward Herman), Fateful Triangle: The United States, Israel, and the Palestinians, and Pirates and Emperors, Old and New: International Terrorism in the Real World. His most recent books are Failed States and Perilous Power.

(born Dec. 7, 1928, Philadelphia, Pa., U.S.) U.S. linguist, philosopher, and political activist. He received a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1955, the same year he joined the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Chomsky takes the proper object of study for linguistics to be the mentally represented grammars that constitute the native speaker's knowledge of his language and the biologically innate language faculty, or universal grammar, that enables the developmentally normal language learner, as a child, to construct a grammar of the language to which he is exposed. For Chomsky, the ultimate goal of linguistic science is to develop a theory of universal grammar that provides a descriptively adequate grammar for any natural language given only the kind of primary linguistic data available in the social environments of children. This imperative has motivated the gradual refinement of Chomskyan linguistic theory from the early transformational grammar of the 1950s and '60s to the Minimalist Program of the 1990s and beyond. A self-described libertarian socialist, Chomsky has written numerous books and lectured widely on what he considers the antidemocratic character of American capitalism and its pernicious influence on the country's politics and foreign policy, mass media, and academic and intellectual culture. Wake Up America why are you always sleeping ???
Can't you hear clearly or you just don't have what human has anymore which is conscience?
Stop your proud sinning, bombing, hegemony and let other country its privilege to survive
Chomsky does not deny the fact that Saddam committed horrible atrocities, he is just stating that the United states which is supposed to be the greatest country in the world put him in power, armed him, sat by and watched him commit horrible atrocities because they were in US interests and only stopped them because they didn't listen to a order. He is correct in the fact that changing president every for years and using the same policy of manufacturing consent of our citizens, nation building around the world for whomever doesn't have the interests of the states and cannot defend themselves will change nothing; that all of these acts provoke hate against our country and is why we were attacked on 9/11. He is saying we need to wake up and do something about it before it is too late. He is not a fraud, I am pretty sure you just never read his books.
Noam tells us about failures of US polices, but “omits” failures of its adversaries, reject charge of Hussein supporting terrorism but “omits” Saddam payment to families of suicide bombers in Israel and giving protection to wanted terrorists.
No matter what US do it will always be condemned by Chomsky, it is his mission, his religion to demonize US, to ascribe to it the lowest motives, lowest level of morality.
He finds the lowest possible motif and present it as the only one.
Sins and mistakes of previous administrations will fall on posterity for ever and any attempt for successive president to improve, to change the approach will, by Chomsky definition be only exercise in cynical, ruffles and stupid pursue of narrow, egoistic self interest.
In his series of interviews after 9/11 Chomsky confidently identifies real culprit, perpetrator of all cruelty and injustice in the world, omnipotent, omniscient USA.
In his words US carry out “massive assaults on innocent civilians”, “commits genoside” when al-Qa’ida merely “takes actions”.
For Chomsky USA is like God, in position to influence everything and everybody, but unlike God in its wickedness chooses only to kill, subjugate, exploit and dominate.
Defense of Bosnian Muslim and protection of Iraqi Kurds are for Chomsky only cynical exercises in pursuing selfish US interest.
Support for independence from Soviets occupation in my former homeland not worth of prize.
Much of what he said proved by 2010 to be wrong, but for Chomsky’s faithful (visibly diminishing in numbers) as for any religious sect, it is irrelevant.
I was once in his sect, I have his books signed by him, and it was in time of my youth, time of romantic naivety when Noam “exposed” the bad guy and had all the answers.
I’ve grow up since then, he hasn’t.
I still want to believe that he is not a fraud.
